Executing the Juang Pirh Livelihood Programme — protecting land, water, and forest rights while strengthening tribal youth and women leaders in Odisha.
Like the traditional Majang — the Juang community house where elders deliberate and youth gather — Meera Welfare Society serves as a convergence point for tribal rights and sustainable development in Keonjhar district.
We are committed to executing the Juang Pirh Livelihood Programme, focusing on rights, entitlements, and empowerment. Our mission is to protect land, water, and forest resources while strengthening Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Group (PTG) youths and women leaders to drive community development.
Forest Rights Act implementation
PTG youth empowerment
Literacy & awareness
Gender empowerment
Protecting land, water, forest and other livelihood resources while strengthening PTG youths and women leaders
Securing Forest Rights Act (FRA) implementation, habitat rights, and land titles for Juang families. Ensuring access to welfare schemes and government programmes.
Promoting traditional agriculture, water resource management, and forest-based livelihoods. Rejuvenating indigenous crop varieties and sustainable farming.
Strengthening PTG youths and women leaders to lead development and empowerment processes at their community bases. Building the next generation of Sardars.
Like the traditional Sardars who lead Juang Pirhs, our work creates ripple effects across generations. From canal construction to women's leadership, we measure success by the strength of communities.
Through community participation, we constructed a canal from a perennial water source, transforming agriculture for 25 Juang families who now cultivate cabbage, tomato, bitter gourd, and ladies finger during the Rabi season.
"Our forefathers roamed every nook and corner of the hills. They were stronger and healthier. Through Meera Welfare Society, we are reclaiming our rights to the forest and our health."
"We are losing our identity and pride. The department controls everything now. Meera Welfare Society helps us fight for our community forest rights and dignity."
Like the sacred Gonasika hills where the Juang ancestors were born, we welcome you to join us at the source of change. Reach out to support the Juang Pirh Livelihood Programme.
